Back around Christmas time, I made a cocktail dress out of some damask fabric leftover from a jacket. The jacket in question still hasn't been finished, but I liked the fabric so much I bought even more of it.
I dabbled with the idea of making a jumpsuit, but in the end decided on separates. Why only have three items of clothing made from the same fabric when you can have four, right? So I decided to make some trousers and a top.
For the top, I used a hacked version of Vogue 9259*, the pattern I had used to make my orange playsuit. It wasn't the most intense pattern hacking; it was literally just abandon the shorts and you're good to go. It worked out quite well, because I used the shorts part of the pattern for my semi-self-drafted playsuit, and now I was using the halter part for this crop top. So overall, I guess I've now made it twice?
For the trousers, I went for McCall's 7726*, which I'd also just used, for some hot pink shorts, and absolutely loved. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough fabric for full-length ones, so had to settle for cropped. I'm not the biggest fan of a cropped trouser, but I'd already made up my mind that I wanted trousers, so that was that.
Though I think this fabric would have looked epic as a jumpsuit, I am glad I decided against it in the end. This way is a lot more versatile, and though I'm not usually the most practical of clothes-wearers, it meant I managed to get multiple uses out of the trousers while travelling, without having any outfit repeats. So woop to that.
Worn with a vintage Sew Easy pussy bow blouse, that still doesn't have its own post, despite this being the third time I've mentioned it. I mean, there's now so many photos of it on the blog, it probably doesn't even need its own post anymore. So, if you're curious to see more photos of it, I've recently worn it with my pink shorts and pleather skirt.
Also, if you're interested, all these photos were taken on holiday in Spain - the full damask outfit was in Madrid, and the trousers with the blouse were in Barcelona. Where I live doesn't get a lot of sunshine, so I'm really trying to make the most out of photos taken with actual natural light.
And you know, if I get a few extra hits on the blog because I'm being a basic posey bitch in front of one of the most iconic buildings in the world, then that's fine too.
So yeah, I'm pretty happy with these two pieces. They're not necessarily the best fitting, or the most flattering, but they're a bit of fun and that's enough for me.
That's it for today. Thanks so much for reading etc. etc.
The look is really lovely!
