After making the Vogue 9259 playsuit, I decided I very much liked this concept and should really make more in preparation for my summer holidays.
This time, I wanted to make something more 50's inspired, with a boned bodice and detachable skirt.
Most of this was self-drafted, but I didn't feel like working out how to pattern shorts, so just used the shorts from the Vogue 9259 pattern*, as I knew they'd work.
All the other elements were quite simple to draft: there was a circle skirt (with pockets, obviously), the waistband for the skirt, a basic princess seam bodice, and two straps that tie at the back.
Annoyingly, I cut the bodice about 2cm longer than ideal, which is why it keeps on wanting to wrinkle, but other than that, I'm pretty happy with it. Well, that and it's not the right colour for me. But other than that, it's all good.
This is definitely one of those items I'd definitely be making more of if I had the time. I do seem to be going through a real 50's glam phase, and in order to do that, one must come equipped with summer playsuits!
I often don't see as much point in making summer clothes, other than making a few things for going away, as I never really feel it gets hot enough here for them to be relevant. But we're having a heatwave at the time of posting, so I guess that proves me wrong!
Right, I'm off to go stick my head in the fridge to cool down. Thanks so much for reading!
