Map Dress (Vogue V8898)
I got this awesome map fabric in my fabric haul back in March, but it took me a while to work out what to do with it.
With it being quite a busy print, I didn't want to make anything too gathered/pleated, which complicated things, as that's my go-to style.
I finally settled on making Vogue 8898 (option B), which I'd made once before and really liked the result.
I figured it would make a good summery dress with the vague toga quality I'd been lusting after, while still being a relatively simple cut.
It was incredibly easy to sew up and probably only took a few hours to make. Instead of the belt the pattern gives, I drafted my own obi-style belt using leftover faux-suede fabric from my suede pencil skirt.
I'm pretty pleased with the result. I had been worried that the colour really wouldn't suit me, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I think this might be one of those rare occasions where I've made something I'd actually wear! Shock horror.
