Another in my long list of makes I never blogged about at the time, here's a jumper I made inspired by Studio Faro's Kimono Twist Dress! I don't entirely remember the drafting/sewing process now, so this post might end up being quite brief...
The pattern wasn't the easiest in the world to draft out, but neither was it the most difficult, and the pattern hacking to make it a jumper was literally just making it that bit shorter. I just used a basic knit block (i.e. one that doesn't have darts in) to do this, and I think drafting the pattern took me a couple of hours to do.
Sewing it up was incredibly quick and easy, and though the twist looks quite intimidating, it's actually very simple to do. Before doing the twist, I bound the edges of the twist section with some bias binding I made from the fabric, so that there weren't an exposed raw edges. Everything else was sewn together with French seams. This probably only actually took me a couple of hours to sew up, and I'm incredibly slow and sewing.
I really like this top and it's probably become one of my most worn me-made pieces. It's got a really relaxed, slouchy fit, yet the twist makes it flattering at the same time, which is pretty much the winning combination.
Anyway, that's it for now.
Until next time!
